Soldiers
SOLDIER – Costume Information
Information is subject to change
Your call time is one hour before performance time.
Performance Costume: All costume pieces are numbered. Costume numbers are assigned at your costume fitting. You will wear the same costume for all of your performances. Remember to put your hat on before you put your gloves on.
- First Regiment Soldiers including the Drummer and Rifleman costumes are TEAL
- Second Regiment Soldiers including the Trumpeter are GREEN
Performance Hairstyle: Flat bun on top of the head. No bangs or part is allowed. Use hairspray or gel to eliminate all loose hair. Hint: The thinner the elastic band used the easier it is to achieve a flat bun on top of your head. Hair spray your hair before the costume is put on. You must arrive at the theater with your hair performance ready.
Performance Makeup: All performance makeup must be applied prior to dancers entering the theater for dress rehearsals and performances. Parents will be responsible for doing their own dancer’s makeup. Below is the list of makeup required for Ballet West Nutcracker. Dancers are allowed to use comparable brands, but the color must be the same. Please reference the photos below for makeup.
- Ben Nye: Eye Shadow Taupe (ES-34)
- Ben Nye: Powder Blush – Dusty Pink (DR-21)
- Brown or Black Brow Pencil depending on hair color
- Ben Nye: True Red Lip Stick (LS-14)
Performance Shoes: Black canvas ballet slippers with black elastic are required. Spats are also worn in the shoe. You may need to consider a half size larger shoe for fit and comfort. Shoes must be “performance ready”. That means that elastics are neatly sewn on and that your shoes are clean. Remember two pairs of shoes are required in your dance bag for just this reason. One pair can be an old pair.
Please Note: The wardrobe department does not repair shoes.
Performance Tights and Leotard: Pink or white ballet tights are worn. Lycra is not allowed. A long-sleeved white leotard is required.
