
INTERNATIONAL STARS BILLED FOR “NIGHT OF SHINING STARS”
Salt Lake City, UT— Internationally renowned dancers will grace the Janet Quinney Lawson Capitol Theatre stage for a dazzling evening when Ballet West hosts Night of Shining Stars on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 7:30 pm in collaboration with The Youth America Grand Prix, the world’s largest student ballet competition. Dancers from American Ballet Theater, London’s Royal Ballet, Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company, and more, will join Ballet West, for a one-night-only event.
Ballet West Artistic Director Adam Sklute said, “It is truly exciting to bring together this incredible and unprecedented collection of acclaimed artists under one roof, on one night. With this diversity and talent on stage, this will be a night the audience will remember for many years to come. I am honored to have curated performances by these esteemed local and international dancers to bring to our audiences.”
Headliners will include:
- Salt Lake native, former New York City Ballet Principal Artist, star of the Tony Award winning An American in Paris, and star of recent film Cats, Robbie Fairchild will perform the final pas de deux from An American in Paris with Allison Walsh, also of An American in Paris and former soloist from The Joffrey Ballet.
- Royal Ballet leading dancers Cesar Corrales and Mayara Magri will perform The Act I pas de deux from Kenneth MacMIllan’s Romeo and Juliet.
- Utah-natives and multiple winners of national ballroom championships, Casey Treu and Kacie Treu perform an emotional duet from The Greatest Showman.
- Utah’s own internationally renowned Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company will perform Artistic Director Daniel Charon’s passionate Now or Never staring Melissa Rochelle Younker and Bashaun Williams.
- From Ballet West, First Soloist Sayaka Ohtaki and Principal Rex Tilton will perform the hauntingly beautiful Ruth Ricordi Per Due, choreographer Gerald Arpino’s final work, and Principal Katherine Lawrence and First Soloist Tyler Gum will perform Oberon and Tatiana’s Nocturne from Sir Frederick Ashton’s The Dream.
