Lexi McCloud, from North Salt Lake, joined Ballet West II in 2022. She has been promoted to the main Company as a Corp Artist for the 2024-25 season. McCloud started dancing at age seven and began focusing on ballet at age 9.
“I realized that I had a natural attraction to the art form and love the discipline that goes into it,” she said. “I was training at my ballet school when my idol, Chisako Oga, would come to our studio every year and guest for us. I wanted to be just like her and do ballet professionally. Watching her brought me so much joy and that made me realize I want to touch the audience the way she did to me.”
Prior to joining Ballet West, McCloud was awarded the Senior Bronze Medal at the 2022 Youth America Grand Prix International Finals. She was named the Grand Prix Winner at the 2022 YAGP Seattle Semi-Finals and was one of the 20 finalists at the Prix de Lausanne.
“Along the way, I’ve learned many things, but the biggest thing I’ve learned is that I really enjoy the process, taking class, learning, rehearsing, performing, and repeat,” said McCloud. “It never stops and I’ve learned to love it, though it’s really hard. I’m excited to join Ballet West. I’m ready to give my best and enjoy every moment.”
