Ballet West’s Adam Sklute Celebrated by U.S. National Guard and Community Foundation of Utah
Ballet West Artistic Director receives the Bronze Minuteman Award in recognition for great accomplishments and service to Utah
SALT LAKE CITY [June 5, 2014]— Ballet West is proud to announce Artistic Director, Adam Sklute, has been named as one of eight outstanding Utahns to be honored with the Bronze Minuteman Award and voted to join the ranks of the Enlightened 50 (E-50) on behalf of the Community Foundation of Utah.
“Every year we honor those who have made lifelong contributions, and Adam Sklute is someone the board felt deserved such recognition,” said Lt. Col. Steve Fairbourn, public affairs officer with the Utah National Guard.
The Bronze Minuteman Award is an honor granted to military members and civilians for their service to the state and their communities. The Utah National Guard will host its 52nd annual Bronze Minuteman Awards Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Little America Hotel, 500 S. Main.
Sklute was recognized by The Community Foundation of Utah to be included in the exclusive group of the Enlighted-50, or E-50. Selected by a an elite group of esteemed peers , the E-50 identifies, celebrates and honors citizens of Utah who through innovation have a profound impact on Utah’s quality of life. “We are extremely proud of this acknowledgement of Ballet West leadership as is exactly what we hope to foster in our local community, throughout the state and beyond,” states Ballet West Chairman of the Board, Victor Rickman.

Adam Sklute has been Artistic Director of Ballet West since 2007. Prior to Ballet West he was with The Joffrey Ballet, moving from dancer to Associate Director over his 23 years with that company. Sklute has performed worldwide and has appeared in numerous television productions and major motion picture releases. Since joining Ballet West, he has expanded the company’s reputation and visibility with increased touring; critically acclaimed new productions of Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty and Giselle; the introduction of great historical masterpieces and innovative new commissions; and he acted as both performer and Creative Consultant for two seasons of Breaking Pointe, the BBC Worldwide Productions Television Docu-Drama about Ballet West. Sklute is a recipient of The Bronze Minuteman Award for outstanding service to Utah and the Nation, a Member of Utah’s enlightened 50 for 2014. In 2007 he was listed among the 25 Movers and Shakers of the Utah Arts Scene.
