SALT LAKE CITY [May 21, 2014] — This weekend, May 24, a new Ballet West Academy location, sponsored by the Barbara Barrington Jones Family Foundation, will hold registration, auditions and placement for students for their new satellite location at The Barn at Thanksgiving Point, beginning at 11:00 a.m. . Additional placement will be in August. The exact date and time will be announced this summer. The auditions during registration will help place students in a wide range of class levels based on their skills and natural talent.
Registration will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. with auditions and placement for students ages seven to 11 starting at 12:00 p.m. Older students, ages 12 and above, will begin auditions and placement at 1:30 p.m. Children six and under do not need to audition but are welcome to register for fall classes on Saturday, May 24.
The Academy at Thanksgiving Point provides comprehensive ballet training for ages 3-18 including the highest caliber of instruction, personal and professional development, and professional performance opportunities. Ballet instructor Jennie Creer King will join the Ballet West Academy faculty as the Principal of the Thanksgiving Point campus.
“We are so pleased to be opening this satellite and offer talented young dancers in South Salt Lake and Utah County an opportunity to train with the Ballet West Academy” said Adam Sklute, Artistic Director of Ballet West. “We are thrilled to have such a talented teacher as Jennie Creer King take on the position of Principal Instructor of these new state-of-the-art facilities. This expansion will allow us to continue to train and inspire the next generation of dancers to an even wider audience.”
With instruction for the pre-professional as well as those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of this beautiful and demanding art form, students have access to the highest caliber of teachers, gain exposure to professional dancers and have professional performance opportunities year-round, opportunities not available elsewhere.
