SALT LAKE CITY, UT – April 20, 2017 – Michael Kaiser, former President of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C., has agreed to lead an international search for a new Executive Director at Ballet West.

Kaiser has been Executive Director for London’s Royal Opera House, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and American Ballet Theatre, among others. Since leaving the Kennedy Center, he has consulted with dozens of arts groups, and known for having a Midas touch on an organization’s strategic planning and long-term stability. Kaiser is also a cultural ambassador for the U.S. State Department, advising performing arts organizations around the world on building institutional strength through marketing and fundraising.

In September 2016, Adam Sklute took on the dual role of interim CEO and Artistic Director while the Board assessed the needs of the Company. With the launch of an international search, Sklute will return exclusively to the role of Artistic Director. “My time as CEO and Artistic Director has allowed the Board and me to reflect on our phenomenal growth, and our future. Together, we have had several months to assess our standing and methodically look at strategies for advancing all aspects of the Ballet West organization.”

“I’m particularly excited to work with Ballet West. After a decade of remarkable growth and achievement, this fine institution has the unique opportunity to look ahead and plan for the future,” said Kaiser. “After an initial review of its financial criterion, I can say the Company is financially stable and well-placed for future growth. My goal is to find an administrator who is uniquely attuned to the specific long term artistic goals Adam and his team have set for themselves.”

“I am thrilled to be working with Mr. Kaiser, a legendary figure in the world of arts management,” said Sklute. “With his guidance I am confident we will find the very best candidate for the institution and a solid business partner. Together, we will lead Ballet West into a strong and sustainable future. My hope is to have a new Executive Director in place by this fall.”

Future updates and announcements will be forthcoming.
