The “Snow Maiden” is an original ballet adapted from early 19th century Russian folktales. Choreographer Jennie Creer-King developed this children’s ballet with the simple message “It is better to love than not love at all”.

Snegurochka is the daughter of Mother Spring and Father Frost.  Father Frost loves his daughter and wants to protect her from heart ache so her only friends are enchanted birds, caribou, and icicle fairies.  She remains in the magical icicle forest until the pull of the human village becomes overwhelming and she ventures out and falls in love.

Original music design weaves Rimsky-Korsakov and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Snow Maiden Opera’s into a magically enchanted delight.  Costume design by Angela Whitehill and Marthanne Argyle with Set Design by Doug Ellis transform the stage into a mythical story book ballet.
