Ballet West’s sixth Choreographic Festival is bringing diverse Asian voices and new choreography to the stage! Featuring world premiere creations and Ballet West premieres:
Zhong-Jing Fang's Somewhere in Time : World Premiere!
Zhong-Jing Fang was born in Shanghai and studied at Shanghai Ballet School. She has won the prestigious dance competition the Prix de Lausanne and is currently a Soloist at the renowned American Ballet Theater.
Caili Quan's Play on Impulse : World Premiere!
Caili Quan is a rising star who has created works celebrating her Chamorro Filipino culture for many esteemed institutions including BalletX, The Julliard School, and American Repertory Ballet.
Phil Chan's Amber Waves:
Phil Chan is a leading voice for Asian cultural change in the ballet world. He is the co-founder of Final Bow for Yellowface, an organization dedicated to making ballet more inclusive of Asian cultures.
Edwaard Liang's Seasons : with guest company BalletMet!
Edwaard Liang was a Soloist for the New York City Ballet, danced on Broadway, and is now the Artistic Director of BalletMet. He is the first Asian American to lead a major American ballet company.
Ballet West will return to the nation’s capital for our second visit this season to be part of 10,000 Dreams: A Celebration of Asian Choreography Festival and Gala June 18 – 22. Ballet West will bring all three of our new festival ballets and perform alongside The Singapore Ballet, The Washington Ballet, Houston Ballet, and more.
Performance run time is 1 hour and 44 minutes.

Although masks are not required while attending Ballet West performances for the 2023-2024 season, we encourage patrons who wish to wear a mask to do so.
