About Katie Critchlow:

Critchlow was born in San Diego, California. She began her ballet training with Leslie Craig at Performing Arts Workshop. Later she went on to train at Anaheim Ballet with Lawrence and Sarma Rosenburg, and then San Elijo Dance Academy with Ben and Laurie Michelle Houk. She spent her summers training with American Ballet Theater, Boston Ballet, and Pacific Northwest Ballet. After graduating high school, Mrs. Critchlow Naumann moved to Seattle Washington to train in the Professional Division of Pacific Northwest Ballet. She spent two years there, continuing her study of ballet by performing with the company in their Nutcrackers, Balanchine’s Symphony in Three Movements, La Valse, and Serenade, Ronald Hyde’s The Merry Widow and The Sleeping Beauty, and many others. She joined Ballet West in 2006 as an Apprentice, was promoted to Corps Artist in 2008, Demi-Soloist in 2012, and Soloist in 2016. Katie has had originally featured roles created on her, by world-renowned choreographers such as Nicolo Fonte, Val Caniparoli, and Helen Pickett. She has danced principal roles in a wide range of dance styles, from Caliope in Balanchine’s Apollo and Baby Pas De Deux in Balanchine’s Chaconne, Juliet in Cranko’s Romeo and Juliet and Tatiana in Cranko’s Onegin, Suzuki in Stanton Welch’s Madame Butterfly, to leading roles in William Forsythe’s In the Middle Somewhat Elevated, Jiri Kylian’s Petite Mort, Forgotten Land, and On an Overgrown Path, Nicolo Fonte’s Almost Tango, The Rite of Spring, and Carmina Burana, and Jerome Robbins’ Fancy Free. Classical roles include Princess Florine, Pas de Trois, and Fairy Joy in Adam Sklute’s The Sleeping Beauty, Four Little Swans, Neopolitan and Pas de Trois in Adam Sklute’s Swan Lake, Zulme and Peasant Pas in Adam Sklute’s Giselle, as well as Sugar Plum, Snow Queen, and Waltz Pas de Deux in William Christiansen’s The Nutcracker. Katie was also a part of the original cast of the CW’s Breaking Pointe, a reality show that followed Ballet West for two seasons.
