About Dominic Ballard:

Ballard was born and raised in South-Eastern Australia where his family runs a full-time ballet school. It was here that Dominic fell in love with ballet and received his early training. After a few years at the Australian Ballet School in Melbourne Dominic left Australia and commenced his professional ballet career in Europe with the National Ballet of Slovakia. During this time Dominic enjoyed dancing the role of Baron Von Rothbart in ‘Swan Lake’ and was promoted to Demi soloist for his performance of Oberon in Juri Vamos’ ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. A thirst for American neoclassicism led Dominic across the Atlantic for a season with Pennsylvania Ballet in 2016 before finding a home at Ballet West in 2017. Some highlights of his time at Ballet West include performing Rothbart and the Hungarian divertissement in Adam Sklute’s Swan Lake, Prince Gremin in Cranko’s Onegin, and most recently performing in Balanchine’s Emeralds during the company’s 2020 tour to Minneapolis. Dominic loves science-fiction and fantasy books, watching movies, and working on the odd crochet project.
