Maureen Laird received her early dance training at Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and at the Pennsylvania Ballet School. She continued her studies at David Howard's School and Melissa Hayden's Studio in New York.
Jan Clark-Fugit received her formation at the National Ballet in Washington D.C. and at the age of 14, joined the Denver Civic Ballet’s junior company under the direction of American Ballet Theatre’s Enrique Martinez. She later became a member of Ballet Colorado and was promoted to Principal dancer. Performing leading roles in classical and contemporary genre including “The Nutcracker” , “The Sleeping Beauty” and “Swan Lake”, Jan went on to perform as a Principal in Central City Opera productions under the auspices of the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
For each scheduled audition, the option to choose that location as an audition location in the registration process will close at 3 pm (MST) of the Friday before that scheduled audition. You may then register in person at the audition location by filling out the application form provided by Summer Intensive Staff and paying the $25 non-refundable application fee (in exact change). Any persons not filling out the pre-registration online, may have a longer wait for results.
Faculty will notify parents of any major progress issues throughout the year. A student/parent/instructor conference may take place at any time through the year in order to update parents on their son’s or daughter’s progress. All faculty members involved with teaching the student will have input into each student’s evaluations and conference. During the conference, teachers will discuss the student’s progress within his or her individual curriculum.
Casting for all Academy productions is at the discretion of the Academy Director, and the faculty. Dancers are expected to be in the final spring performance and attend rehearsals. Unless notified by February 1, 2014, all students except Dance Discovery, Pre-ballet, Ballet Basics, Preparatory 1 are expected to participate in the Spring Performance, May 29-31, 2014.
