Sharee Lane

Sharee Lane is an Associate Professor, Lecturer in the Department of Ballet at the University of Utah, where she teaches both upper and lower division levels as well as Acting For Dancers. Professor Lane also choreographs for Ballet Ensemble and is Artistic Advisor for the Department's Ballet Showcase II.

Professor Lane danced with Ballet West under Artistic Directors Willam F. Christensen and Bruce Marks from 1970 - 1979, and was responsible for training John Travolta in his 1982 movie, "Staying Alive."

A frequent guest teacher for the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet in Aspen, Colorado, and Santa Fe, New Mexico, and the Northwest Professional Dance Project in Portland, Oregon,

Professor Lane's reputation as an outstanding teacher of classical ballet technique has spanned over 24 years, beginning with Willam F. Christensen, Founding Artistic Director of Ballet West, inviting Professor Lane to join the faculty at the School of Ballet West in 1981. 

In 2004, Professor Lane received the Thomas D. Dee Grant to attend the world renowned Vaganova Ballet Academy Teacher's Conference in St. Petersburg, Russia. Most recently, in April 2006, she was awarded the Philip and Miriam Perlman Award for Excellence in Student Counseling, recognizing faculty members who have made outstanding contributions to the University through their student advising and counseling.
