Premiering the role of Death in The Green Table, Principal Artist Adrian Fry relays his experiences rehearsing and performing the role: ⬇️ . “It’s a great honor to portray the iconic role of Death,“ said Principal Artist Adrian Fry. “I see him as the omnipresent time keeper. He’s not aggressive; in fact, there are moments where he is incredibly tender.” . The process began a month prior to performances, which Fry said was tricky because he had to completely relearn how to dance for the role. “Our modern ways of moving in ballet were not really welcome in Green Table. It was a great relearning of how to stand, how to walk, how to look, and how to move,” he said. “It was a really big challenge, but I’ve have been really enjoying my time on stage with it.” . Getting ready for the character requires 45 minutes in the makeup chair getting his war paint on. “It’s a really special role. Death is a very captivating presence,” Fry explains. “On opening night in the scene with the refugee women and the mother, I rise from the floor and the spotlight slowly illuminates me. I actually heard somebody in the audience gasp. It’s really a testament to the genius theatricality of Kurt Jooss, and the strength of this character in his most enduring masterpiece." . There are only THREE more chances to see Love and War! Reserve your tickets for the 4/18, 4/20 Matinee, and 4/20 Evening performances now, at the link in our bio! .
